On Saturday, the 8th of December, we at A3D, Inc. (African Development through Drum and Dance) are holding our 4th Annual “Hope For The Holidays” fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Salem, MA. This year’s theme is a World Party with a Taste of Salem. The food and entertainment at this event are included in the admission/donation. The event will include live, world music including the MAMADOU band, belly dancers, African drumming, Latin music, dancing, and ethnic food originating from the great kitchens of some of Salem’s finest cultural restaurants.
Proceeds from this event will be put directly towards A3D's ongoing projects!
We at A3D are passionate about bringing true meaning to the phrase "act locally, think globally." We have intercontinental goals. Some of our projects are based here in Salem, Massachusetts, and some reach as far as West Africa.
Our first major project provided computers to the AEDEC School and sewing machines to a training facility for young women at the Universite Mame Diarra Bousso in Senegal. As part of A3D’s ongoing efforts in Senegal, a portion of the proceeds raised from the upcoming Hope For The Holidays event will go towards the continuation of our humanitarian projects in West Africa.
Another goal of A3D is to establish a Multicultural Center in the Greater Salem, MA area, where artists from all over the world will be invited to display their art, along with sharing their culture. We feel very strongly that this Cultural Center will not only be a valuable resource for tourism, but that it will also have a positive impact on the creative community based here in the Greater Salem area. A3D is proud to say that while moving toward our goal of making the Multicultural Center a reality, we hosted our second annual Salem CultureFest on Salem Common in July with 10% of the proceeds benefiting HAWC. The Salem CultureFest celebrated diverse music, dance, and art forms from all over the world. This family fun event was well received with a positive vibe enjoyed by all.
We hope that you will join us in making a difference in the world by “acting locally and thinking globally”. Your support is appreciated.
